Learn to Make Wine

Lexington Beerworks is your best option for wine making supplies and we are dedicated to helping you make the best wine possible.  Each month, we offer an introduction to wine making class.

Our Introduction to wine making class should be the starting point for all new wine makers.  In this class we spend about an hour going through the entire process of making an wine using one of the high quality wine making kits.  All the basics are taught including sanitation, ingredients, bottling and more.

Sanitize Everything

Wine making is pretty easy but sanitation is key to make sure your wine tastes like it should.

Prepare Must (Juice)

Your juice will typically come diluted so you will need to add water. Pour your juice in your sanitized container and seal it up.

Fermentation

The yeast will eat the sugar in your wine converting it into alcohol. This step usually takes 2-4 weeks. During this time you will also transfer the wine into another sanitized container in order to help clarify the wine for bottling.

Clearing and Bottling

The last few steps of wine making are mainly concerned with clearing the wine, protecting it from oxygen through chemical additions and finally bottling. Once bottled, your wine will need to be aged from a few weeks to more than a year. Once its ready, open and drink with friends!
